EDUCATIONAL WALKING TOUR GUIDES

Mid February – June 2024, part-time

Educators, artists, journalists and storytellers take notice! Walk T.O.’s interactive educational walking tours explore urban geography, the environment, social issues, media, and art and architecture. To find out all about us go to walkto.tours.

As a guide, you will lead groups of 15-35 elementary, intermediate and senior level GTA students, and their teachers, on some of our six city walks.

We hire guides for our Spring and Fall Walking tour seasons:

  • Our Spring walking tour season is from late March to late June, with (paid) training starting in mid February.
  • Our Fall walking tour season is from late September to mid November, with (paid) training starting in early August.

Our environmentally and socially conscious city walks are rooted in the rich stories of Toronto’s people and history. We are seeking a creative, outgoing educational tour guides who love students and have lots of energy

Requirements

  • Passion for interacting with students from Grades 4-12
  • College or University degree, with experience teaching or working with young people
  • Experience leading & engaging large groups
  • A background and/or strong interest in one or more of the following areas: urban geography, art, media, the environment & social issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to memorize lots of material
  • Must be available at least three weekday mornings per week (from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) from late March to late June. All our walks are 2 hours long.
  • Reliable and committed to the full season of part-time guiding. Great for freelancers and part-time workers. Please do not apply if you are searching for full-time work

Pay: $24 per hour for guiding; plus training paid at minimum wage. Hourly wage increases with seniority.

As the shifts are just 2-hours long, it is recommended that you live in the downtown core or have easy access to downtown – these guides are our happiest employees, as it allows minimum commuting time.
