Our Guides

Our team of guides are university graduates and educators who are passionate about the environment, the arts, media and urban planning. Most of our guides are long-time Toronto residents, who have a passion for sharing their knowledge and stories of the city. They love Toronto and are excited to inspire young minds about the city and what it has to offer!

Adam

As a parent to two kids, Adam loves both teaching and gaining insights from young minds, finding each moment in life to be a learning opportunity. At Walk T.O., they enjoy sharing new ideas with students and watching their minds open up to explore unknown possibilities. They appreciate how each tour gives students a chance to discuss the real world and the freedom to express their thoughts and feelings about it. Adam feels privileged to witness and participate in these conversations with students and teachers.

Alice

Alice is a dancer and mental health specialist. She takes joy in helping children uncover new ideas, develop critical thinking, and think outside the box. She loves engaging with them through interactive activities and meaningful discussions. Passionate about fostering social justice, she believes teaching these values to children can help create a better future for everyone, encouraging them to embrace diversity, inclusion, and fairness.

Amanda

As a professional artist who focuses on painting and drawing, Amanda develops tours that invite students to discuss social justice, feminism, technology, and other current topics through art. At Walk T.O., Amanda appreciates witnessing how students get to hear perspectives about art that are not typically showcased in the classroom. Having a few public art pieces around the city, they find it enriching to show students the voices of artists who are usually unheard.

Cat

Cat is a creative soul who loves diving into a good book, hunting for unique finds at thrift stores, or working on pottery projects. She finds being a guide at Walk T.O. an incredibly rewarding experience, as it allows her to share her knowledge and experiences while enjoying her students’ fun and unique perspectives. On her tours, Cat values giving students the time to explore and form their own thoughts and opinions first. This reflective space encourages curiosity and thoughtful questions, helping her tailor each tour to match their unique answers.

Eddie

Having lived in Toronto his entire life, Eddie loves sharing the wonders of the city with others, particularly with his students at Walk T.O. He uses his background as a theater performer to engage with students, bringing the stories of Toronto to life through his dynamic and captivating storytelling. Eddie’s love for food and family often comes into play as he introduces students to the city’s diverse culinary scene and vibrant community life. He particularly appreciates how often teachers seem as eager to learn from the tours as the students.

Janina

When not guiding at Walk T.O., Janina spends her time gardening, researching urban food trees, and playing the hurdy-gurdy (look it up—we promise it’s fascinating!). As a guide, she loves leading students through the city’s diverse sites, offering them an immersive experience and a fresh perspective on urban landscapes. Janina treasures the connections she makes on her tours, as they give her the chance to hear students’ unique perspectives on different topics about the city.

Likam

When he’s not leading students through the vibrant streets of Toronto, Likam is busy crafting stories as a writer and making a difference as a worker in the non-profit sector. At Walk T.O., Likam finds joy in connecting with students and sharing his passion for the city’s diverse facets: from its rich art scene to its ever-evolving urban landscape, all while advocating for social justice. He treasures the meaningful interactions and insights gained from each tour.

Sarika

When she’s not working in medical research, Sarika enjoys fencing, sewing, playing piano, reading, and dancing. At Walk T.O., she loves learning about the city and sharing its stories with young minds. On her tours, Sarika aims to create a welcoming dialogue where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas while having fun. She also finds joy in seeing both students and teachers appreciate the fresh perspective that comes from learning out in the community, surrounded by the vibrant energy of the city, rather than in a traditional classroom setting.

Veronica

Veronica is a professional tap dancer who loves everything about Toronto: the combination of arts, culture, restaurants, and parks. As an Administrator at Walk T.O., she enjoys working with excited teachers and students who book tours to learn everything about the city. She particularly cherishes hearing the great feedback about our guides and our company. As the owner of a dance company, she finds her work with Walk T.O. the perfect way to combine administrative work with her life as a performer.

Winnie

Winnie is an actor and tour guide with a passion for traveling and exploring new cultures. At Walk T.O., she brings her creativity and unique approach to every tour, blending challenge and fun to engage her students. Winnie loves inspiring curiosity and encouraging students to think critically about the world around them. She also enjoys sharing personal stories and inviting students to do the same, fostering a sense of connection that helps create memorable and meaningful experiences on her tours.

Testimonials

“The Art Walk was amazing; my grade 6 students got to walk, climb, draw and photograph Toronto. I look forward to taking this field trip every year.”

–Andrea C, Grade 7 Teacher, Toronto District Catholic School Board

“We had an amazing time on the walk. We learned a great deal and had a lot to talk about when we got back to school! Our guide was amazing! She was really patient, understanding and accommodating with my ESL students. The students said they actually were able to understand her fully and were very grateful that she was so friendly and patient. We also did the activity from the website, which definitely furthered the students understanding of everything we learned. “

–Sandy D, Family Studies and Geography Teacher, Greenwood S.S.
